Set out below is the present Legal Status of HC-12a ®
January 01, 2004
- The legal situation concerning the marketing, distribution, sale,
and use of HC-12a ® has not changed since June 01, 1993.
- It is LEGAL to sell, market, and distribute HC-12a ®.
- It is LEGAL to use HC-12a ® as a replacement refrigerant in
any HFC-134a (R-134a) system; whether that system is a new R-134a system, or one that has been retrofitted from CFC-12 (R-12), to
HFC-134a (R-134a).
- No license is required to purchase, or use HC-12a ® because our refrigerant contains NO harmful CFC's, HFC's, or HCFC's. HC-12a
® contains NO ozone depleting substances, and NO global warming substances. Furthermore, HC-12a ® is non toxic and non corrosive.
- The primary market for HC-12a ® is as a second generation
replacement for HFC-134a and all other R-12 substitutes which are ozone
depleting.
- The USEPA Final Rule, published on April 01, 1994 states "In this
final rule, the Agency has determined that second generation
replacements; if they are non ozone depleting and are replacing non
ozone depleting first generation alternatives, are exempt from
reporting requirements under Section 612".
